Solar Electric Research Vessel

Solar Electric Research Vessel

The S.E.R.V is a RAND model Picnic 18 built as an 18ft daycruiser. It is now retrofit with an EPropulsion Navy 6.0 EVO electric outboard motor capable of hydroregeneration and direct drive and houses two 48V E-Series Lithium batteries. The S.E.R.V is powered jointly through photovoltaic systems and a tidal generator integrated into the vessels electric motor. The vessel is intended for future use for the NASA MiDAR instrument, the Multispectral, Imaging, Detection, and Active Reflectance Instrument.
